SUCCESS STORIES FROM THE FIELD

“Our decision to expand LNC deployment in Yuma is a testament to the effectiveness and scalability of Liquid Natural Clay in enhancing soil health. This technology optimizes the use of natural resources, paving the way for more sustainable and profitable desert farming practices, in close alignment with our sustainability programs.”

SUCCESS STORIES IN GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT

“Like most golf courses ours is build to drain like nothing else, which may be fine for places were it rains all the time, but not out here in the desert where water is our most precious resource. After applying Desert Control’s LNC we have significantly reduced irrigation water requirements to maintain a perfect playing surface.”

SUCCESS STORIES IN URBAN GREEN SPACES

Liquid Natural Clay has been instrumental in water conservation and maintaining our lush Green Landscapes for Masdar City. The Pump Track Park led the way as an early adopter of LNC, addressing water savings in a traditional urban context and supporting the Federal agenda on water scarcity and security. Through a study of over 7 months, we observed water savings of up to 60% for trees during specific months of the year.

Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) from Desert Control has the potential to benefit various crops by improving water retention and soil quality, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. However, its suitability for all crop types can vary based on the specific needs of each crop, the initial soil conditions, and the local climate.

(Our) Research has shown that applying LNC can substantially improve the ability of sandy soil to retain water, thereby reducing the runoff and leaching of nutrients. This, in turn, helps to maintain a steady supply of nutrients for plants, leading to greater efficiency in crop nutrient uptake. As a result, farmers can reduce their reliance on fertilizers, leading to significant cost savings while minimizing the environmental impact of agricultural activities.

Reduced pesticide pollution: The environmental impact of pesticides depends on several factors, such as runoff, leaching, and air dust movement. Pesticides can easily wash away in sandy soils during irrigation or rainfall. They can also be transported by air, leading to pollution and decreased pesticide effectiveness. However, with the application of LNC, we can improve the soil structure, helping to retain these chemicals where needed. This, in turn, can enhance their effectiveness and reduce the quantities required, potentially reducing pesticide pollution.

Interaction with Soil Microbiome: Ongoing research is being conducted on the impact of LNC on the soil microbiome, which plays a vital role in nutrient cycling, pest control and the degradation of organic pollutants, including some pesticides. LNC helps improve the soil’s physical structure, potentially promoting a balanced environment for soil aeration and water retention, essential for a healthy and diverse soil microbiome. A healthy microbiome is an engine that supports fertile soil and healthy, nutritious crops.

Potential for Reduced Soil Erosion: By improving the soil’s physical properties and retaining water, LNC treatment could also reduce soil erosion, which often carries away topsoil, applied fertilizers, and pesticides. Therefore, it preserves soil quality and reduces the loss of these inputs.

The main issue is to have plants/vegetation covering the surface in order to avoid wind erosion, which with time will break down the layers in the soil, including the LNC layer.

Assuming something is growing on the soil, how long a LNC treatment lasts, depends on how actively the soil is tilled. In soils that are actively tilled, an LNC treatment will typically last 3-5 years, before the LNC layer needs to be “topped up” by applying LNC again.

If the soil isn’t tilled, like in tree plantations, parks or gardens, we expect it to last 15 to 20 years or more. The question here is the availability of nutrients for the plants/trees/grass; if these are lacking the plants/trees/grass will start to take these from the clay, so it is advisable to do regular soil analysis to know the health of the soil.
