Desert Control Completes Pilot of Liquid Natural Clay at Wood Ranch Golf Club

Sandnes, Norway, 2 September 2025 – Desert Control AS (DSRT) today announced the completion of a pilot application of its Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) technology at Wood Ranch Golf Club, a private golf course in Simi Valley, California. The initiative reflects Desert Control’s growing presence in Southern California’s golf sector, where rising water costs and sustainability are key challenges.

Ron Kerley, Golf Course Superintendent at Wood Ranch Golf Club, explained the motivation for the trial:

“At Wood Ranch Golf Club, irrigation water costs $800,000 a year—and climbing. By applying LNC course‑wide, we’d hope to save water, save money, and be better stewards of the environment; reinvesting savings into modernizing our irrigation system. I have spoken to the team at Woodland Hills Country Club where they have already proven the impact, achieving significant savings through summer heat. Replicating that success at Wood Ranch would deliver lasting financial and environmental benefit.”

“Golf courses across Southern California face significant challenges from escalating water costs and availability,” said CEO James Thomas. “Through pilots such as the one at Wood Ranch Golf Club, we continue to demonstrate how LNC can help reduce water consumption, enabling clubs to reinvest savings into course improvements that benefit both players and the environment.”

The Wood Ranch pilot adds to Desert Control’s growing portfolio of golf projects in California, further reinforcing the company’s strategy to expand its solutions for water savings and sustainable turf management.

“We are pleased to see LNC proving its value in this important application, and we thank the team at Woodland Hills for their trust and collaboration in working through the initial issues,” said James Thomas, CEO of Desert Control. “As an early adopter of water-saving technologies, WHCC has shown its commitment to maintaining a high level of playing surface while using fewer inputs.”
