Sandnes, Norway, 29 August 2025 – Desert Control AS (DSRT) is pleased to report that its partner, Woodland Hills Country Club (“WHCC”), is seeing early results from the Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) application to its entire course, which show significant reductions in water use compared to the same period last year.
Desert Control and WHCC entered into a Pay-As-You-Save (“PAYS”) partnership covering this treatment. While some irrigation issues were discovered in the weeks after application that delayed WHCC’s ability to reduce water consumption, the team at WHCC, working with assistance from Desert Control, has resolved those issues, and reductions are now being achieved.
“We are pleased to see LNC proving its value in this important application, and we thank the team at Woodland Hills for their trust and collaboration in working through the initial issues,” said James Thomas, CEO of Desert Control. “As an early adopter of water-saving technologies, WHCC has shown its commitment to maintaining a high level of playing surface while using fewer inputs.”
“With LNC, we are already seeing stronger moisture retention and healthier turf, even through the record heat of August 2025,” said Roy Crow, Class A Golf Course Superintendent at Woodland Hills Country Club. “We are optimistic these results will continue, and as Desert Control fine-tunes integration with irrigation systems based on our experience, LNC has the potential to become a valuable tool for golf courses looking to save both water and money.”
In evaluating its recent operational performance at both WHCC and PGA West, Desert Control has identified the root causes of the issues, developed solutions, and will implement these learnings in future applications.
Desert Control’s solution is also approved under major water conservation incentive programs by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). The Woodland Hills project qualifies for both, and the savings-based incentives further strengthen the financial return under Desert Control’s Pay-As-You-Save (PAYS) model.
